admin writes, "Breed Banning Proposal in Longmont
The Longmont City Council is considering a ban on some, if not all breeds of dogs considered "dangerous". In fact, a pupblic hearing was held on February 15th for citizens to voice their opinions. There is also a plan for a second public hearing sometime in March to further discuss the issue. "

The particular breed most often mentioned is the Pit Bull. Whether or not just Pit Bulls will be bannned remains to be seen. Over the years many breeds have had their bad share of press and problems, Boxers, Dobberman Pinchers, German Shepards, and Rotweilers, to name a few.
While any dog attack is Our question to you: Should the city council 1) Adopt a ban on a certain breed or breeds of all dogs or 2) Enact tougher registration and civil penalties for owners of any dog breed labeled "dangerous"? a senseless act of violence on people or other animals, it is incumbent of our city leaders to do all within their power to protect its citizens, even from themselves and their pets. But are we ready to begin canine profiling and possibly leave out a new threat later on?
