Dream Artist, Brenda Ferrimani at Full Spectrum Gallery Brenda Ferrimani, a national award winning Dream Painteris being featured at Full Spectrum Gallery, 1023 Main St. Longmont, August 10th - September 14th, beginning with an opening reception Friday night August 10, from 7pm to 9pm. Ferrimani is building a new studio/gallery in New Town Prospect, (South Longmont) which is expected to be completed in Oct 07. With it's high ceilings and picture windows overlooking the funky new urban setting, Brenda Ferrimani's art studio is close to becoming her dream: a place for the creating new dream art and exploring symbols from the unconscious in workshops. Dreamwork, which is the exploration of dreams and their meanings, is central to Ferrimani's studio and work. As an artist, she paints dreams as both a way to dreamwork and also to express her spirituality. "Dreams speak the language of the soul," says Ferrimani. Through her art she begins to understand that language. Ferrimani's work did not always center on her passion for spirituality and dreamwork. In the 1980's she worked as a graphic designer and operated her own design firm in Colorado. Her work was successful, but didn't fulfill her in the way that she needed. "I was losing interest in my work," she says. "I needed to create work with deeper meaning," and so she began working with those haunting recurring images she had so often in dreams, first in sketches and then finally on canvas. As a result of her stunning dream art, Ferrimani was asked to be the "Attending Artist" to the International Conference of the Fantastic in the Arts in 2000, an annual conference that celebrates fantastic images in literature, film, and art. At the conference Ferrimani spoke for the first time to book artists, science fiction writers, and other artists about her work with her dreams. This marked the beginning of an amazing journey for Ferrimani. Now in addition to her painting and workshops, she also writes a regular column for "Dream Network," a quarterly publication with readers in the USA and Canada, and has published articles/artwork in "Dream Time," an internationally published magazine. Ferrimani is also certified in the projective dreamworking method, made popular by Rev. Jeremy Taylor, through the Marin Institute of California. Her latest painting, "Fall Into Fear," which depicts a nightmare she had the night after 9/11, won a Nancy Richter Brezeski Dream Art Award for 2007 at the "Spirit of the Dream" art show, Sonoma State University, CA. This painting will be part of the Full Spectrum Gallery art show through August. Ferrimani is currently building a body of work called, "Amazing Women's Dreams," which will be the basis for an art exhibit featuring dreams of some of the amazing women of our time. Among the amazing women's dreams to start the project is that of Boulder resident Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. -two time New York Times' Best Seller author, and spiritual teacher. The work Ferrimani completed depicting her dream is called "The Inner Saboteur," and will be also part of the work displayed at the Full Spectrum Gallery show. Dreams continue to captivateFerrimani's imagination and provide an unending source of inspiration for her powerful paintings.
