Marco’s Hot Dogs & Tacos Is a Beloved Gathering Place Features Sonoran-Style Hot Dogs and Fresh Salsa

Considered a staple by many Longmont locals, Marco’s Hot Dogs & Tacos at 17th and Kimbark offers hot dogs wrapped in bacon, Sonoran style, and loaded street tacos (which you order as “single” or “double” to indicate the number of tortillas). Often, there’s a line out the door of the food stand topped with a candy-striped awning, and pickup trucks jostle for spaces in the tiny parking lot.
But the line moves quickly, as the staff keeps their row of sheltered food carts in a near-constant state of sizzle, meaning the food is hot when you get it and never sits around. The salsa bar is also fresh and boasts legit pico de gallo and chiles toreados.
“We prep the salsas and chiles every single morning,” says Arturo Silva, manager of Marco’s Hot Dogs & Tacos and grandson-in-law of the business’s founder.
“My abuelita started this business as a burrito cart,” he says, referring to his wife’s grandmother, Elia. The cart started in 1995 and was named after her. Then, in 2000, he and other family members shifted to the current menu, which honors the Mexican state of Sonora and the streets of Juárez. They named the food stand Marco’s after Silva’s father-in-law, who had the idea for the menu changes.
Since then, hungry
Longmonters of all backgrounds have lined up for a bite. As Silva likes to say, “Un taco al día es la clave para la alegría.”
Translation? A taco a day is the key to happiness.
